Geohazards and Geomorphology Lab (Geo² Lab)

We investigate landscape evolution, environmental reconstruction, landslides, natural hazards, forest and soil dynamics through fieldwork, UAV mapping, remote sensing, GIS, photogrammetry, statistical modelling, and machine learning.

Understanding landscapes, environmental change, and natural hazards

The Geohazards and Geomorphology Lab (Geo² Lab) is a research group at the University of Silesia in Katowice. We study geomorphic processes, geohazards, environmental reconstruction, weathering, soil production, climate change, forest dynamics, and landscape evolution.

Our work combines field observations, UAV-based photogrammetry, satellite remote sensing, GIS, geomorphometry, statistical modelling, and machine-learning approaches. We aim to advance scientific understanding while supporting hazard assessment, risk reduction, and sustainable environmental planning.

Our research covers monsoon mountain landscapes, Himalayan terrain, Central Europe, forested environments, coastal systems, and rapidly evolving hazard-prone regions.
